About Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium

Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium is a non-profit educational center and public aquarium housing the largest living collection of New York State freshwater reptiles, fishes and amphibians. Visitors tour two aquarium buildings and eight outdoor ponds, where they can feed trout and participate in "Catch & Keep" fishing. The facility offers special programs including Pollywog Adventures, Fall Craft Time, and seasonal events such as Animal Passport Program and Hatching Turtle Day. School groups and scouts experience elementary programs like Fins and Jaws, Habitats and Life Cycles, and secondary programs such as Pond Life and Freshwater Ecology aligned with New York State learning standards. The Hatchery's Egg Stripping program demonstrates centuries-old fish breeding techniques of egg taking and fertilization. Summer programs are available for registration. The facility opens daily with extended summer weekend hours. It is located in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, and charges admission with reduced rates for children and seniors.
