Bayard Cutting Arboretum is a 160-acre landscape in Great River where visitors walk through gardens and woodlands designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. The grounds feature a Walled Garden, shade trees, and plantings meant to provide quiet beauty and outdoor refreshment. Visitors explore the arboretum on public grounds tours offered in spring, summer, and fall, with advanced registration required as space is limited. The Manor House is open for public tours Thursday through Sunday at 11:00 AM, with private tours available for groups of ten or more. The Hidden Oak Café, located inside the Manor House, serves visitors Tuesday through Sunday. The arboretum also offers kid-friendly and adult workshops, field trips, and evening grounds tours with happy hours. An Annex Art Exhibit provides additional cultural programming. Admission is charged, and hours are published online. The arboretum emphasizes quiet enjoyment, prohibiting active sports, picnicking, swimming, and bicycling to preserve its natural character.
