Village of Babylon Historical & Preservation Society is a museum dedicated to preserving the history of Babylon, New York. The museum occupies a building originally donated by the children of Henry Livingston for community use. When the library that once housed it moved in 1969, the Historical Society was formed and developed the museum. Visitors explore exhibits covering Babylon's transformation from its origins as Huntington South through its development as a gilded-age resort town with hotels and estates in the 1870s-1890s. The museum documents the railroad's arrival in the late 1800s, the area's role during World War II with aircraft corporations, and waterfront industries including clamming and fishing. Exhibits also trace the community's evolution into a modern commuter area. The society hosts special events and lectures throughout the year celebrating American history.
Admission is free. The venue says: “Free and open to all!”
