Bay Shore Historical Society preserves and shares the history of the Bay Shore community through its museum at the circa 1820 Gibson-Mack-Holt House. Visitors take docent-led tours of the house's museum exhibits, which explore local heritage through artifacts and displays. The Historical Reference Library, open to the public, contains archives of photographs, newspaper articles, ledgers, books, yearbooks, and memorabilia documenting Bay Shore's past. The society also operates the 1820's Shoppe, where visitors can purchase Bay Shore collectibles and donated items including china, silverware, and costume jewelry. Founded in 1985, the society moved the historic house to its current location and restored it through volunteer efforts over five years. The house opened to the public in 1991 and remains staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers. The Gibson-Mack-Holt House is open to visitors on published days.
Hours: Tuesday & Saturday 1 PM - 4 PM
