About Old Bethpage Village Restoration

Old Bethpage Village Restoration is a living history museum set on over 200 acres of preserved farmland in Old Bethpage, New York. Visitors step into a recreated pre-Civil War farm village with more than two dozen original homes and buildings relocated from across the region. The site features the Schenck House, home to Dutch settlers and Revolutionary War soldiers, and the Conklin House, believed to have sheltered a young Walt Whitman. At the Bach Blacksmith Shop, visitors watch demonstrations using 1800s tools and techniques. The Noon Inn serves sarsaparilla, while the general store and working fields surround the crossroads. Heritage-breed animals live at Powell Farm. Costumed interpreters demonstrate blacksmithing, open-hearth cooking, and other period crafts throughout the village. Seasonal events include the Long Island Fair with farm animals and live music, an 1880s Haunted Halloween with trick-or-treating and costume contests, and Candlelight Evenings featuring Victorian carolers. The village operates on published hours and charges admission, with tickets sold online.
