About Winfield Hall

Winfield Hall is a 56-room Beaux Arts mansion built in 1917 for Frank Winfield Woolworth, the pioneering five-and-ten-cent store entrepreneur. Located in Glen Cove, New York, the estate sits on substantial grounds at Crescent Beach Road. Designed by architect Charles Pierrepont Henry Gilbert, the mansion features distinctive architectural details including a pink and beige marble staircase. The home was constructed to replace an earlier estate on the same property that burned in 1916. Woolworth's residence reflects the grandeur of Gold Coast estates built during the early twentieth century. The mansion has changed ownership several times since Woolworth's death in 1919, passing through the Reynolds Metal Company, the Pell Corporation, and other private owners. Winfield Hall remains privately owned and has periodically appeared on the real estate market. The estate represents a significant example of early twentieth-century residential architecture and wealth on Long Island's North Shore.
