About Ekdahl House Museum

The Ekdahl House Museum in Western Springs preserves the home of an early Swedish immigrant settler and recreates life in the village's earliest days. Visitors tour the restored house to view a recreation of the cobbler shop and post office that once operated from this small, front-gabled building. The structure served as one of the first businesses in town and housed the first post office, making it central to the community's original hub. The Historical Society restored the building to its original appearance and created an outdoor museum setting for the public. The house sits in Western Springs and offers a glimpse into the village's founding era through its authentic period details and historical exhibits.
