About Lithuanian World Center

Lithuanian World Center is the largest Lithuanian cultural institution outside Lithuania, located in Lemont. Visitors explore the Lithuanian Museum of Art, which presents exhibitions, educational programs, concerts, lectures, film screenings, workshops and community events celebrating Lithuanian art and heritage. The center houses the Maironis Lithuanian Community School, offering Friday and Saturday instruction in Lithuanian language, literature, history, folk singing and dancing for students in grades K-10. The Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis Mission conducts services in the Lithuanian language and fosters Lithuanian religious traditions. The 125,000-square-foot facility includes gyms, classrooms, conference rooms, banquet halls and soccer fields. More than 50 Lithuanian organizations operate from the center, including folk dance ensembles, choirs, scout groups and sports clubs. The center organizes traditional cultural events, craft fairs, summer movie nights and Christmas celebrations attended by thousands annually. English language courses serve recent Lithuanian immigrants, while the Lithuanian Heritage Club offers educational sessions for Americans with Lithuanian ancestry.
