The West Chicago City Museum is a history and art center housed in historic downtown West Chicago where visitors explore exhibits about the community's past. The museum displays photographs and information about local landmarks including the North Western Roadhouse, the Aurora, Elgin & Chicago Railroad, Krimball's Blacksmith Shop, the Ripley Hotel, and Chandler & Goetz Hardware. A major attraction is the Kruse House, a 1917 American four-square home with original furnishings and a restored garden featuring rock terraces and a lily pond maintained by the West Chicago Garden Club. The museum offers programs and tours for visitors of all ages. For children, the museum provides a reading and play area, a train table, hands-on activities, and a coloring area. Visitors can attend events such as cemetery walks and book clubs. The museum is located in historic downtown West Chicago and is easily accessible by highway and local roads with free street parking available nearby.
