The DuPage County Historical Museum occupies a Richardsonian Romanesque building erected in 1891 in downtown Wheaton. Visitors explore changing exhibits and artifacts documenting DuPage County's history, from everyday life to significant moments. The museum features an HO Scale Model Railroad and exhibits including displays about Route 66 and iconic local diners and hangouts. The facility hosts Train Saturdays programs for the Explorers Club, evening lectures on topics like Founding Mothers and local history, and creative activities such as DIY crafting classes. School and scout groups can arrange guided tours. The museum also offers Night at the Museum events and hosts facility rentals for private gatherings. General admission is free. The building stands at the corner of Main and Wesley Streets, one block north of the Metra railroad tracks and near the Wheaton Public Library. Street parking and nearby public garages serve visitors. Hours vary by day of the week.
