The Darien Historical Society preserves and presents the history of Darien through the Old Lace Schoolhouse and Museum. Visitors explore archives and artifacts related to local history during open house visits. The museum displays Civil War-era pieces, including the 1861 Cass Flag, a well-preserved artifact with significant historical lineage. The society also offers the Images of America book, which documents local history through photographs and text. The Old Lace Schoolhouse and Museum opens to the public on the first and third Sunday of each month, with general admission free. School groups and scout groups may arrange special visits on other days by contacting the museum. The facility serves students, educators, historians, genealogists, and anyone interested in learning about Darien's past.
