About Itasca Historical Depot
The Itasca Historical Depot Museum preserves the town's history through exhibits in an 1873 depot building. Visitors explore collections including a Milwaukee Road rib-side caboose, Dr. Smith's medical office artifacts, an 1889 self-heating folding bathtub, the original ticket agent's office workstation, an antique doll collection, and historical clothing. Themed exhibits such as "Itasca Dairies" and a "Tribute to Itasca Area WWII Veterans" showcase local heritage alongside family heirlooms from area residents. The adjacent Itasca Community Library houses an extensive collection of photographs, maps, archives, and records for research. The museum offers programs and camps for different ages as well as themed birthday parties. A picnic shelter and parking lot provide amenities for visitors exploring this restored depot that served as the town's train station from 1873 to 1976.
