About Twinsburg Historical Society
The Twinsburg Historical Society, founded in 1963, preserves and exhibits artifacts from the city's past through its museum and historic properties. Visitors explore the stone Museum building, originally constructed in the 1860s as the Twinsburg Institute and later the Grange Hall, located on Darrow Road. The adjacent Freeman Carriage Barn, built around 1870 by Dr. Seth Freeman, showcases the history of the town's fastest horses and the doctor's nighttime travels. The Society maintains the 1850s Riley House on Liberty Road and the Moses Roach House on Church Street. Exhibits document local history including the Civil War Monument in Town Square, built with sandstone quarried in Twinsburg, and the Jonathan Herrick House, a Greek Revival stone structure moved and reconstructed at Hale Farm and Village. The Society also preserves records related to Locust Grove Cemetery, established in 1846. Open House visits occur on the last Sunday of each month, welcoming those interested in regional history and architecture.
