About Solon Historical Society
The Solon Historical Society operates a museum in a historic carpenter gothic building in Solon that showcases the town's evolution from early settlement to the modern era. Visitors explore thousands of photographs, historical records, and physical artifacts donated by residents over the decades. The museum includes several period rooms that recreate pioneer life, featuring a general store, a one-room school, examples of a pioneer bedroom and kitchen, and early farm equipment. These exhibits educate visitors about how settlers lived and how Solon developed. The building itself has historical significance, having served as a Disciples of Christ Church where future president James A. Garfield once spoke. The museum is located at the original Town Center in Solon, Ohio. Group tours and special visits can be arranged by contacting the society directly.
