About Aurora Historical Society

The Aurora Historical Society operates a museum on the lower level of the Aurora Memorial Library dedicated to preserving and sharing the community's history. Visitors explore collections and displays of artifacts from Aurora's past, including diaries from Harry Hammond, an owner of Geauga Lake in the 1920s. The society presents exhibits highlighting items from its collections as well as pieces loaned by members and the public. Educational programs serve all ages, while the society sponsors lectures, field trips, and special exhibits that explore local history. Monthly social meetings feature speakers discussing historically related topics. Volunteer docents guide students and other visitors through the museum displays. The Aurora Historical Society also publishes an informative newsletter called The Aurora Pioneer. General admission is free. The museum is located in Aurora, Ohio.
