About Artists Open Studio
Artists Open Studio in Norwalk provides studio space where adult artists with developmental disabilities create and exhibit visual art. Visitors observe artists working independently in dedicated painting and clay studios, using fine art materials to produce hand-built ceramics and paintings. The studios host open studio sessions where artists with and without disabilities work collaboratively, encouraged by fellow artists and facilitators. Guests can view art exhibits featuring work by AOS artists displayed locally and statewide. The on-site gift shop sells handmade merchandise and individual artworks created by studio participants. Artists also earn income through product manufacturing and art sales. Since its founding in 2004, Artists Open Studio has served over 40 artists in the Huron County community, celebrating their creative achievements and amplifying their voices through visual arts. A visit suits anyone interested in observing artists at work in an active studio environment and supporting artists with disabilities.
