About Sandusky History Museum at the Follett House
The Sandusky History Museum at the Follett House preserves and interprets the history of Sandusky and Erie County through exhibits across four floors. Visitors explore displays including an outstanding collection of historic textiles, domestic life, leisure activities, business and industry, and tourism. Exhibits document local roles in the War of 1812, the Battle of Lake Erie, the Civil War era, and Johnson's Island Prison. The Greek Revival house features a rooftop widow's walk offering panoramic views of downtown, Sandusky Bay, Cedar Point, and Johnson's Island. Stories reflect immigrant communities from Germany, Italy, and Ireland who shaped local traditions. One block away, the Sandusky Library Archives holds photographs, maps, documents, directories and manuscripts documenting regional history. Admission is free.
