About Merry-Go-Round Museum

Merry-Go-Round Museum houses hand-carved carousel figures, vintage band organs, and rare artifacts within the historic former Sandusky Post Office, a National Register building that opened to the public in 1990. Visitors explore the Animal Gallery, take a ride on a restored carousel, and view the Band Organ Collection while learning the artistry behind these timeless creations. The museum's Restoration Workshop, occasionally featured during special events, demonstrates how dedicated volunteers use traditional methods to carve and restore carousel animals. The Bloomberg Connects app provides a free digital guide with additional stories and photos before arrival. Located in Sandusky, Ohio, the museum opens Wednesday through Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with hours published on its website. Active military with valid ID receive free admission, as do care partners accompanying visitors with disabilities. Children under 4 also receive free admission.
