About Maritime Museum of Sandusky

The Maritime Museum of Sandusky preserves the region's waterfront heritage through exhibits and hands-on experiences centered on Lake Erie and Sandusky Bay. Visitors explore the history of passenger boats, commercial fishing, ice harvesting, boat-building, shipwrecks, Ohio's wetlands, and Sandusky's role in the Underground Railroad. The museum campus includes the Howman Boathouse and Motor & Engine Room, where guests can board Lyman boats and view vessels on display. An active boat building school and restoration workshop allow visitors to observe craftspeople at work. The museum hosts programs and special events throughout the year. Located in Sandusky, Ohio, the Maritime Museum of Sandusky charges admission, with prices published online. The venue is handicap accessible.
