The Cuyahoga Valley Historical Museum interprets the region's history through permanent and special exhibits housed on the lower level of the historic Boston Township Hall, built in 1887. Visitors explore the feature exhibit "Bits and Pieces: Unpuzzling Our Past," which organizes artifacts into six categories: Artists, Inventors, Events, Celebrities, Sensations, and Disasters. Featured items include memorabilia of major league baseball player Scotty Ingerton, the Peninsula Gold Hunt of 1945, PVC inventor Waldo Semon, a headless Civil War Monument, documentation of the 1913 Flood, works by local artists Walt Scott and William Sommer, and records of the Barnum and Bailey Circus parading through Peninsula. A second exhibit focuses on Peninsula's stone quarries, examining Deep Lock Quarry and the Swimming Quarry through displays answering where quarries operated, who worked in them, and what products were made and shipped. The museum participates in the Ohio Memory Project, making images available online. Group visits are available by arrangement.
