About The Phoenix Police Museum

The Phoenix Police Museum preserves the history of law enforcement in Phoenix through exhibits, artifacts, documents, and photographs spanning more than 144 years. Located in the Historic City Hall building, the museum traces the department's evolution from its founding in 1881 when Henry Garfias served as the city's first City Marshal to its role in shaping modern Phoenix. Visitors explore displays that document the challenges and triumphs of police service while honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The museum began as a small exhibit in 1993, created by dedicated police employees, and relocated to its current downtown Phoenix location in 2012. Interactive tours allow guests to engage with the collection firsthand. The museum serves anyone interested in local history, civic heritage, and the relationship between law enforcement and community. General admission is free.
