The Kendall County Historical Society - Lyon Farm in Yorkville preserves Kendall County history through a village of restored buildings, exhibits, and community events. Visitors walk through historic structures including the Oswego-Fox House, built in the 1870s; Union School, constructed in 1847; the Gothic-style Plano Depot from the 1850s with its accompanying C.B. & Q. Caboose built in 1918; Seward Town Hall from 1876-1877; and the Corrigan Store, which operated as an independent store through the late 1950s. The site features collections, interpretive exhibits, and demonstrations that bring local history to life. Community events throughout the year include seasonal programs and activities like kite flying days. Visits are available by appointment, allowing groups and families to explore the preserved buildings and learn the stories behind Kendall County's past at their own pace.
