About Marge Cline Whitewater Course

The Marge Cline Whitewater Course in Yorkville is a 1,100-foot-long bypass chute that allows paddlers to navigate around the Glen D. Palmer Dam on the Fox River. Canoeists, kayakers, and tubers use the course to travel safely downstream without portaging. The Fox River drops nearly 6 feet across the chute, creating recreational paddling conditions for experienced and novice paddlers alike. A 12-foot-wide concrete path enables paddlers to walk their canoes, kayaks, or tubes back upstream to run the chute repeatedly. The facility includes portage points at both ends, picnic shelters, fishing areas, restrooms, and a walking trail along the rapids. General admission is free. Located at Bicentennial Riverfront Park in downtown Yorkville east of Route 47, the course welcomes open use from paddlers traveling in either direction on the river.
