About The Getty

The Getty in Los Angeles comprises two distinct art museums showcasing collections spanning the Middle Ages to contemporary works. At the Getty Center in Brentwood, visitors explore European paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts displayed across multiple pavilions. The 134,000-square-foot Central Garden, designed by artist Robert Irwin, features over 500 plant varieties arranged around a stream, waterfall, and azalea maze. Additional gardens include a Cactus Garden with desert plants and Los Angeles views, the Fran and Ray Stark Sculpture Garden displaying works by Elisabeth Frink and Isamu Noguchi, and the Lower Terrace Sculpture Garden with pieces by Joan Miró and Alexander Calder. The Getty Villa Museum, located north of Santa Monica near the coast, displays ancient Greek and Roman antiquities within a recreated Roman house. Both locations feature modern architecture, outdoor sculpture terraces, and daily garden tours. The Getty serves visitors interested in art history, architecture, and horticulture in Los Angeles, California.
