About Angels Flight Railway

Angels Flight Railway is a historic funicular that transports passengers up and down a steep hillside between Hill Street and Grand Avenue on Bunker Hill in Los Angeles. Opened in 1901, it holds the distinction of being the world's shortest railway and has carried more than 100 million riders. The railway operates from a lower entrance at Hill Street across from Grand Central Market to a top station at California Plaza. Visitors board the funicular for a short scenic ride connecting the two downtown neighborhoods while enjoying views of the area. The railway reopened in 2017 after rehabilitation and now operates daily from early morning through evening. Angels Flight Railway stands as City of Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument #4 and participates in the Passport 2 History program, connecting visitors to regional historical sites throughout Southern California.
