About The Colored Girls Museum

The Colored Girls Museum, the only institution in the United States dedicated exclusively to honoring the stories of ordinary colored girls of the African diaspora, occupies a 140-year-old Victorian twin home in historic Germantown. Visitors explore memoir-based artifacts submitted by colored girls themselves, each object representing a meaningful aspect of personal history and experience. The current exhibition, "Say it Loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud" Act 2, features work by citizen artist vanessa german, including The House, The Oracle and The Table installations. The museum also offers private guided tours of 75 minutes with intimate storytelling and behind-the-scenes access, available for groups of two to six guests. General admission is $20, with reduced rates for seniors and students with ID. The museum opens Saturdays and sells tickets online through its website. Children under 10 years old are always free with paid admission. Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the museum functions as research facility, exhibition space, and gathering place for radical placekeeping and conscious revolution.
