About Penn Museum

Penn Museum in Philadelphia explores human cultures across ten thousand years of history through galleries spanning the ancient Middle East, Egypt, Mexico, Central America, and Native North America. Visitors examine artifacts including stone carvings, ancient sculptures, and Egyptian watercolor paintings never before exhibited in the United States. Daily programs include The Daily Dig, a fifteen-minute talk by museum specialists about individual artifacts, and Cartifacts, interactive experiences with artifact reproductions where visitors ask questions and learn from experts. Weekend drop-in tours led by volunteer docents explore single cultures or connect objects across continents and centuries. The museum hosts CultureFest celebrations featuring live music, dance performances, storytelling, art-making, and vendor marketplaces honoring traditions including Día de los Muertos, Lunar New Year, and Holi. Artifacts in Action offers virtual lectures on archaeology and anthropology. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
