About Mennonite Heritage Center

The Mennonite Heritage Center in Harleysville preserves and shares the history of Mennonite faith and life in eastern Pennsylvania. Visitors see changing exhibits in the Moyer Gallery, including Peace & Plenty: Life in the Central Perkiomen Valley, which depicts four centuries of human life in the region. The center features a permanent overview exhibit on Mennonites accompanied by a 22-minute film called The Earth Is the Lord's. The Mary Jane Lederach Hershey Fraktur Gallery displays fraktur artwork, while the John L. Ruth Historical Library and Kauffman Archives house extensive research collections on Anabaptist and genealogical materials spanning three centuries. The campus includes a reconstructed nineteenth-century post-and-beam barn. Visitors can attend workshops and programs throughout the year, including the annual Apple Butter Frolic, reading groups, and seasonal activities. Groups and church classes can schedule tours in advance.
