About Lansdale Historical Society

The Lansdale Historical Society preserves the history of Lansdale and the North Penn area through its two-building complex on Jenkins Avenue. Visitors tour the Jenkins Homestead, a restored 1770-era Federalist-style farmstead that is the oldest building within Lansdale's original borders, to experience period architecture and domestic life from that era. The adjacent Lansdale Historical Research Center, renovated to be computer and Internet friendly, houses the Society's extensive collection of documents and artifacts related to local and regional history. The Research Center functions as a repository where visitors can examine materials documenting the area's past. Founded in 1971, the Society focuses on sharing its resources with the community, particularly with young people interested in local heritage. The complex occupies a central location in Lansdale, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, situated one block from Main Street on Jenkins Avenue between Chestnut and Line Streets, with on-street parking available nearby.
