About Chester County History Center

Chester County History Center preserves over 80,000 artifacts in seven exhibition galleries, including the Visible Storage display where visitors examine more than 900 objects from the late 1600s to early 1900s. The museum's permanent exhibits trace Chester County from indigenous contact through the Revolutionary War, abolition debates, and women's rights advocacy. Rotating exhibits showcase rotating exhibits of artifacts, manuscripts, photographs, and works of art. The facility houses a research library with over 500,000 manuscripts and 20,000 volumes, plus 80,000 photographs in the photo archives dating to the 1840s. The 56,000 square-foot complex in downtown West Chester includes a 250-seat auditorium and hosts walking tours and educational seminars. Adults pay admission, with students and children at lower rates. Active military with valid ID and their families receive free admission. Chester County Public Library card holders may sign out up to two individual day passes monthly for free entry.
