About Mather Planetarium
The Dr. Sandra F. Pritchard Mather Planetarium at West Chester University operates a 32-foot dome theater equipped with a state-of-the-art SciDome XD Touch digital projector. Visitors watch astronomy programs displayed across the nanoseam dome manufactured by Spitz, Inc. The planetarium serves school groups during weekday shows in fall and spring semesters, with approximately 50 schools and organized groups attending each year. Programs for the general public run on Friday evenings during the academic year. Annual attendance approaches 3,000 visitors. The Department of Earth & Space Sciences operates the facility, which supports both WCU astronomy classes and K-12 educational visits. School groups and families attending public shows experience immersive presentations about space and astronomy in the dome theater. The planetarium is located in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
