About Tenement Museum
Tenement Museum offers guided tours through preserved apartment homes and walking tours of the Lower East Side, where visitors explore the lives of immigrant families. The Apartment Tour 8A steps inside 1950s and 1960s homes of the Epstein family, Holocaust survivors, and the Saez Velez family, Puerto Rican migrants. Walking Tour W1 traces how Lower East Siders shaped community spaces including stores, parks, and theaters. Tour 3A examines tenement small businesses through a Civil War-era saloon and a Depression-era auction house. The museum also hosts food experiences and live podcast events with historians. Visitors check in at the Museum Visitor Center before tours and can browse the Shop for books and gifts about New York and immigration history. New York teachers receive free admission on Sundays with code TEACHNY and valid school identification. Care partners of visitors with disabilities also receive free entry upon request.
