The Museum of the City of New York explores more than 250 years of the city's history through exhibitions and interactive galleries. Visitors examine current shows including "Raise Your Voice," which traces activism and social change across generations, and "Halumii Ktapihna," presenting the enduring cultures of the Lenape people, the original inhabitants of the land now known as New York City. Other exhibitions feature Joe Macken's detailed wooden scale model of the city and Abram Champanier's Alice Mural artwork. The Frederick A.O. Schwarz Education Center operates state-of-the-art classrooms where trained museum educators lead programs for school groups, families, and community members, serving over 50,000 people annually. These programs develop critical thinking skills through interpreting historical evidence and drawing reasoned conclusions. The museum shop offers products inspired by New York City's history and culture. Located at Fifth Avenue and 103rd Street in New York, the museum opens daily with extended evening hours on Wednesdays.
