About Shasta State Historic Park

Shasta State Historic Park preserves brick buildings and streets six miles west of Redding that once formed the center of mining, commerce and social activity in Northern California. The Courthouse Museum, open Thursday through Sunday, houses exhibits and programs that interpret the former town's history. Visitors explore the park's interpretive exhibits and walk among the remaining brick structures and streets. The site includes picnic areas and drinking water for day-use visitors. Leashed dogs are permitted in the parking lot and on paved roadways. The park charges admission and publishes its prices online. Historical enthusiasts and those interested in California's Gold Rush era mining history will find detailed information throughout the site, located along Highway 299's main street corridor.
