Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park preserves the largest private rancho building in California, which operated as the center of a prosperous Mexican-period estate between 1834 and 1846. Visitors tour the historic adobe structure and explore exhibits and programs that interpret life during this era. The park, located at the east edge of Petaluma off Highway 116 and Adobe Road, offers day-use activities including picnic areas and access to a visitor center focused on environmental learning. Parking, restrooms, and drinking water are available throughout the grounds. Dogs are permitted in developed areas but not in the adobe building or backcountry sections. The park publishes admission prices online and is open daily with the adobe building accessible until mid-afternoon. Fourth-grade visitors can enter free with California's Free Fourth Grade Pass, and the Historian Passport Day Use Admission Annual Pass is accepted.
