About Crystal Cove State Park

Crystal Cove State Park in Orange County encompasses 3.2 miles of beach, 2,400 acres of backcountry wilderness, and an offshore underwater area. The park features a federally listed Historic District with 46 vintage rustic coastal cottages built in the 1930s and 1940s around Los Trancos Creek. Visitors explore the backcountry on marked trails, including the three-mile loop trail, and access the beach from four entrances at Pelican Point, Reef Point, Los Trancos, and School/State Park. The Michael and Tricia Berns Environmental Study Loop offers a half-mile ADA-accessible trail with eight science field stations where visitors perform citizen science activities. Staff and docents lead guided hikes, tidepool walks, and geology talks throughout the year. The visitor center at the Ranger Station displays replicas of tools and objects used by the Gabrielino and Juaneno peoples who inhabited the coast for thousands of years before Spanish arrival. Located off Pacific Coast Highway between Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach, the park opens at 6:00 a.m. daily.
