About Niguel Botanical Preserve

Niguel Botanical Preserve is an 18-acre public garden in Laguna Niguel displaying plants from Mediterranean climate regions worldwide, including California, Northwestern Baja California, Central Chile, Southern and Southwestern Australia, the West Cape of South Africa, and countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. Visitors walk designated hillside trails past the California Garden, Chilean Garden, Australian Garden, South African Garden, Rose Garden, Labyrinth, Gazebo, and Formal Garden. The preserve demonstrates how these drought-tolerant plants create beautiful, sustainable landscapes while providing habitat for birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Pathways wind through the gardens with views of rolling hills and Saddleback Mountain. A garden map is available at multiple locations throughout the preserve. Dogs on leashes are permitted on trails, though bicycles are not allowed. The landscape offers botanical interest throughout the year.
