About Lakeside Historical Society

The Lakeside Historical Society, founded in 1972, preserves and educates visitors about Lakeside's diverse history. The History Center in Lakeside houses a museum and archives where visitors explore artifacts, books, pamphlets, maps, genealogies, photographs, and historical materials documenting the region's heritage. The museum displays items that establish and illustrate Lakeside's past. The archives contain additional historical documents and records available for research. A gift shop on-site offers books about local history for purchase. Outside the History Center stands the Memory Walk, featuring engraved red bricks that commemorate family names, special dates, memorials, and businesses. The society hosts general meetings monthly and presents historical programs throughout the year, including community events and heritage celebrations. The Olde Community Church Hall, operated by the society, serves as a venue for community gatherings. Visitors interested in regional history and genealogy research find resources and exhibits documenting the Lakeside area's development and heritage.
