About Fischer Farm

Fischer Farm in Bensenville is one of the oldest remaining homesteads in the county, established by the Fischer family around 1836. Visitors tour nine buildings across the property, including the Fischer clapboard cabin from circa 1837 and the historic 1919 American foursquare farmhouse that now houses the main museum space and farm shop. The grounds preserve rare forest ecosystems with remnants of prairie, wetland and woodland habitats, alongside original seedbeds that remain unchanged since the settlers' arrival. The farm operates programs including youth camps, a 4-H Club for ages 8 to 18, and seasonal special events such as Family Earth Day Celebration, Harvest Fest and Farmside Christmas. Visitors can purchase farm produce including honey, eggs, meat and seasonal vegetables at the farm shop. The property welcomes thousands of visitors annually for guided tours, group outings and programs focused on agricultural education, historical exploration and environmental conservation. General admission is free.
