The Schweikher House is the only National Register of Historic Places listing in Schaumburg, Illinois, and visitors tour the modernist residence and studio of architect Paul Schweikher through guided walks led by expert docents. Tours run sixty to seventy-five minutes and guide visitors through all rooms of the house and studio, where guests learn about the property's history, Schweikher's architectural practice, and the home's second residents, the Langsdorf family. The house features brick walls, wooden ceilings, and large windows throughout. Visitors see period furnishings including sofas with colorful pillows, dining tables, and shelving units with decorative items that reflect the home's mid-century modern aesthetic. An optional room accessible by stairs provides additional context about the residence. Groups are limited to twelve individuals. Tours are offered on a regular schedule throughout the week, with advance reservations strongly advised.
