The Eames House in Los Angeles is the 1949 home of designers Charles and Ray Eames, preserved as it was during their lifetime. Visitors explore the landmark modernist structure and its grounds at their own pace or on guided exterior tours that begin in the meadow with stories of the couple's early years and the home's creation as Case Study House #8. Tours include views into the first floor of the residence from outside and access to the couple's private on-site studio, a space not otherwise open to the public. Visitors discover the Eames' collections, prototypes, and creative process throughout the visit. Grounds and studio visits allow self-guided exploration with staff and docents available to answer questions. Guided exterior tours provide narrated context about the designers' philosophy and approach. Private exterior and interior tours accommodate groups, with interior tours restricted to visitors age twelve and older due to the delicate nature of the interiors.
