About Boscobel House and Gardens

Boscobel House and Gardens is a Federal-period mansion in Garrison where visitors tour a restored Neoclassical home and explore its grounds overlooking the Hudson River. Built between 1804 and 1808, the house was demolished by the 1950s; preservationists reassembled architectural fragments to restore it and reopened it as a nonprofit museum in 1961. Expert museum guides lead visitors through the mansion to see one of the finest collections of decorative arts and New York furniture from the Federal period. The 68 acres of grounds feature lush gardens, including a period Herb Garden maintained by the Philipstown Garden Club, and a woodland trail. An orchard produces apples used in collaborations with local cider makers. Seasonal events include Heritage Applefest with cider pressing and apple preserving, the Philipstown Garden Club Flower Show, and chamber music performances. The grounds provide dramatic views toward Constitution Marsh and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Admission is required; tickets are sold online through boscobel.org.
