Locust Grove Historic Site in Poughkeepsie, New York sits on a hill overlooking the Hudson River and offers visitors tours of a historic Italianate mansion, exploration of 200 acres of landscaped grounds, and five miles of hiking trails. The mansion tour lasts approximately one hour and is recommended for those age ten and up. The grounds open daily, with a visitor center featuring art galleries, a museum shop, and classrooms for educational programs. Hiking trails wind through gardens and designated areas, with maps available at the museum shop. Dogs are permitted on the grounds with a valid membership. The mansion remains inaccessible to wheelchairs, though the visitor center and grounds feature accessible facilities including handicapped parking and level gravel paths through gardens. Tours are held on specific days and group reservations require advance notice.
