About Whitney Museum of American Art

Whitney Museum of American Art in Manhattan's Meatpacking District presents rotating exhibitions of twentieth-century and contemporary American art, with special focus on living artists. Current shows include The Lost World: The Art of Minnie Evans, Alex Da Corte: Hot Dog with Ketchup as public art, and upcoming Roy Lichtenstein: Like New. Visitors explore galleries across multiple floors, attend exhibition tours, and participate in artmaking workshops led by artists and educators. The museum hosts daily programming including artist talks, film screenings, and performances. Family programs offer in-gallery activity guides and at-home artmaking challenges, while Free Second Sundays feature curator talks and special events for all ages. The Whitney also operates artport, an online gallery dedicated to internet and new-media art. Located steps from the Hudson River Greenway, the museum is accessible by subway, bicycle, and car.
