Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center in Oyster Bay, New York is the country's oldest songbird sanctuary, established in 1923 as the first National Audubon Society songbird sanctuary. Visitors explore 14 acres of native plant demonstration gardens, several small ponds, and a mile of hiking trails. The property features the Bessie Potter Vonnoh fountain sculpture and Theodore Roosevelt's gravesite at its corner. A visitor center, open during published daytime hours, provides access to a nature store and live animal exhibit. The grounds include a pollinator garden, picnic area, bathrooms, and group meeting space. Nature programs and conservation-themed events run throughout the year. Trails and gardens are accessible from sunrise to sunset. The sanctuary suits anyone interested in birds, native plants, and outdoor exploration.
Hours: 10:00am - 4:00pm
