The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art preserves and promotes extraordinary folk art environments in Houston. Visitors explore the Orange Show Monument, a maze-like structure of steel, ceramic, and concrete built as a tribute to one man's favorite fruit and considered one of the most important folk art environments in existence. The Beer Can House, covered in an estimated 50,000 aluminum beer cans, offers tours of this iconic landmark celebrating consumption and recycling. Smither Park, Houston's first art-inspired green space, features hand-laid mosaic artwork created by over 300 artists from around the world. The center also organizes Eyeopener Tours that guide participants through visionary and folk art sites throughout Houston and beyond. Additionally, the organization supports at-risk youth through enriching art projects including mural painting and Art Car building, and produces the Houston Art Car Parade annually. General admission to the Beer Can House and Smither Park is free.
Admission is free. The venue says: “Thanks to the generous support of Saint Arnold Brewing Company, ADMISSION IS ALWAYS FREE.”
Hours: Wednesday - Sunday 10am-4pm
