About Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a nature preserve where visitors explore native plants and wildlife along trails open daily from dawn to dusk. The Nature Center building opens at 9 am with exhibits and educational resources about local ecosystems. Guests can join guided nature hikes in English or Spanish, participate in yoga on the lawn, or take tyke hikes designed for young children. The Arboretum offers adult programs in art and photography, food and drink, health and wellness, nature and wildlife, and plants and gardening. Volunteer opportunities include the Second Saturday Bird Survey and the Fourth Saturday Phenology Walk for those interested in citizen science. Special events throughout the year feature activities like Bat Fest and ArBOOretum celebrations. The facility also hosts educator workshops for teachers seeking hands-on nature instruction methods.
