About Tennessee State Museum
The Tennessee State Museum in Nashville presents Tennessee history, art, and culture from natural history beginnings through the present day. Visitors explore permanent and temporary exhibitions including Pottery from the Collection, Tennessee Voices American Stories, Tennessee Made: Three Grand Divisions of the Arts, The Tennessee Playlist, The Civil War and Reconstruction, Forging a Nation, Tennessee Transforms, and Tennessee Time Tunnel. A Children's Gallery serves younger visitors with interactive exhibits. The museum hosts special events including Lunch and Learn programs and participates in festivals like the Southern Festival of Books. The museum store on the first level offers handmade items from Tennessee artisans, history-related merchandise, books, specialty gifts, local foods, and apparel. The museum is located at the corner of Rosa L. Parks Boulevard and Jefferson Street, adjacent to Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park and the Nashville Farmers' Market. General admission is free. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from ten to five, and Sunday from one to five, closed Mondays.
