About Frist Art Museum
The Frist Art Museum is a nonprofit art exhibition center in Nashville presenting visual art from around the world in Nashville's former art deco main post office building. Visitors explore rotating exhibitions across more than 45,000 square feet of combined exhibition and public space. Current exhibitions include Shimmer: Dreaming the Posthuman, an immersive show featuring 17 artists working with analog and emerging technologies to explore interconnectedness between humans, other species, and the earth. The museum also presents the Young Tennessee Artists exhibition, showcasing two-dimensional work by high school students in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate studio art programs. Coming exhibitions include The Great Mughals, Pop to Present, and shows devoted to M.C. Escher and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The gift shop features a trunk show of statement jewelry by Jianhui London, made from recycled and reclaimed materials. The museum is open Thursday through Monday, with extended hours on Thursday evenings.
