About Tennessee Central Railway Museum

The Tennessee Central Railway Museum preserves and operates historic railroad equipment from the golden age of passenger rail travel. Visitors ride vintage excursion trains that depart from Nashville to destinations including Lebanon, Watertown, Baxter, Cookeville, and Monterey. The trains consist of air-conditioned coaches with refreshments and souvenirs available onboard, and many routes offer deluxe accommodations in special cars for an enhanced experience. The museum's collection includes passenger cars, cabooses, freight cars, and locomotives that volunteers restore and maintain on most Saturdays. The museum headquarters occupies the former Tennessee Central Railway Master Mechanic's office near downtown Nashville and houses offices, a library, and the largest collection of Tennessee Central Railway artifacts. A railroad hobby shop operates on Saturdays and features HO and N scale trains and supplies. Volunteers typically give tours on Saturdays when excursion trains are not operating. The museum is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating guests about America's railroads and preserving this historic equipment.
